Storms

The strongest oak of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It’s the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun.  -Napoleon Hill

I’ve been putting off writing this.  It’s tough to think about.

In the last three months, Lindy’s breast cancer spread to both her lungs.  We found out last Thursday afternoon.   Suddenly her disease is no longer considered stable, but active again.  These spots were caught early, so that is good.  Three spots were found, two 2 mm, and one 6 mm.  Read her own words.

We moved into our new house on Friday with another storm cloud following right behind.  We were partially settled, when Lindy’s Grandma Josephine fell and broke her hip and died just a short time later.  This past Monday was the visitation and the funeral took place on Tuesday.  It was a beautiful tribute to a wonderful lady.  She’ll be missed.

Last night, a bunch of friends from our small group came to pray and visit with us.  They are such a great group of people, we are sincerely blessed that they’ve come around us once again.  God has hand-picked people to hold us up when we’re too tired to stand.   Just when you feel like He’s left you, encouragement comes.  Their words and deeds mean so much.  We prayed to the sounds of all the kids laughing and playing in the lower family room—it was just what we needed.

Tomorrow we meet with Lindy’s doctor at U of M to discuss a treatment decision.  We’re still working through what to do.  It’s not an easy decision to make.

We love you guys and will do whatever we can to help you through this journey. We know God is a God of miracles, and we’re trusting Him for another miracle for Lindy!
